Greg Chako

In a pro career spanning five decades and five countries, Cincinnati-born jazz guitarist Greg Chako has released 17 albums and been the subject of a documentary called, “An American Cat in the Lion City.” During a prolific period as a recording and performance artist living in the Far East for 17 years, he evolved into a masterful, expressive composer with rich story telling abilities. His varied arrangements and 70+ recorded original compositions merge Mainstream, Hard Bop, Latin & World instrumental music. Residing in Cincinnati since 2017, he’s on course to surpass his recording output in Asia. His 16th album of all-original music, “Life After 40” came out in Jan. 2024, and his 17th album, titled “Standard Roots,” is a tribute to The Great American Songbook in guitar-bass-drums trio format.
