In this installment of Ted Ludwig’s Jazz ‘Lick of the Week’, Ted takes another look at Subdominant Minor.
This episode features a line that works well on a back door ii-V in the key of C. This type of chord change is common in many tunes but none more evident than the Tadd Dameron classic “Lady Bird”. The use of Fmin7-Bb13 as a way to get back to Cmaj7 gives us another great opportunity to explore subdominant minor.
Enjoy. And thanks for tuning in! See you next time.
