Jazz Fusion Guitarist Ron Bosse’s New Release, “Burning Room Only”
Ron Bosse taps Grammy-winning fusion keyboard pioneer Jeff Lorber to produce and co-write “Burning Room Only,” release date November 18.
Among the other accomplished collaborators joining Bosse and Lorber on “Burning Room Only” are drummer Gary Novak (George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Chick Corea), bassists Ben Shepherd, Jimmy Haslip(Yellowjackets), Hadrien Feraud and MonoNeon (Prince); multi-horn player and arranger David Mann, and featured saxophone soloists Bob Mintzer from Yellowjackets and Bob Reynolds of Snarky Puppy.
A gifted fretman who deftly combines alacrity and dexterity in his impassioned play, Bosse surrounded himself with first-call musicians to animate the eleven songs on “Burning Room Only.” With Lorber creating trademark R&B/funk grooves, Bosse’s guitar brings a fiery edge to tracks that define the essence of fusion: jazz improvisation meets rock and roll abandon. Bosse cites the influence of the late guitar great Pat Martino in inspiring “Burning Room Only” to be a “groove-jazz” record. The album straddles the line, finding a happy balance between lush melodies and harmonies neatly packaged in pop-length songs and freeform jams and sprawling sonic explorations.
