In this video podcast, JGT’s Bob Bakert talks to jazz and improvisational musician Camila Meza about her influences, guitars, and touring.
Jazz and improvisational musician Camila Meza was born in Chile. Camila started her musical journey there, studying, learning, recording, and performing. She came to NYC to “check it out”, she moved to study, and caught up in the energy and opportunities afforded her – she now resides there. If you ever wonder about the power of music, its influence, and its effect which transcends everything that can be attributed to culture and environment it is on display in the the consummate artist Camila Meza.
As a young girl from South America, she was affected by the likes of George Benson, and Pat Metheny in a way to guide her to her calling. She is amazing, clear of tone, and full of musical ideas so well on display in her original compositions and songs. She has a unique singing voice and style informed by her myriad of diverse influences.
