Daniel Santiago “Love in the Modern World”
Daniel Santiago Reimagines Kurt Rosenwinkel’s Compositions in His New Album “Love in the Modern World”.
Daniel Santiago, the Brazilian guitarist, composer, and producer who has spent the past two decades quietly redefining the language of modern music in Brazil and internationally, announces his new album, Love in the Modern World. Released through Berlin-based Heartcore Records, this record is a deeply personal reimagining of ten compositions by the legendary Kurt Rosenwinkel.
Santiago’s artistry has always been defined by his ability to create music that transcends boundaries. Rooted in the traditional sounds of his homeland, Brazil, yet equally shaped by the attitude of English rock and the intricate complexities of modern jazz, his work creates his own original sonic language. With Love in the Modern World, Santiago turns his attention to Rosenwinkel’s catalog to present it to the world through a new lens.

The genesis of this project was as unexpected as it was heartfelt. “Some months ago, completely out of the blue, Daniel approached me with the idea of recording a solo album of my compositions,” recalls Kurt Rosenwinkel. “I was surprised, deeply flattered, and as I sat with the thought, a sense of excitement began to grow. I could already imagine how beautiful this music would sound in his hands.” In November, Santiago traveled from Brasília to Berlin to record the album in Rosenwinkel’s studio. What unfolded in those sessions was nothing short of magical. “He was fully prepared, often nailing the pieces in just one or two takes,” Rosenwinkel says. “The sound he draws from the guitar is immense, yet he makes it all look effortless—a hallmark of true mastery.”
