Jazz guitarist Vince Lewis continues his JGT Arrangement Series with “L’il Darlin”.
L’il Darlin was composed in 1957 for the Count Basie Orchestra and their Album ‘The Complete Atomic Basie.” Hefti also was a terrific arranger, and wrote popular television themes such as “The Odd Couple” and “Batman.” This tune was originally recorded at a very slow pace, but has been covered by multiple artists over the years at varying tempos. My arrangement here is another mid level difficulty, and feel free to play the tops of the chords if that is easier for you as that is where the melody note always appears.
