New Project From Greg Diamond, Beata
Beata, his sixth release, Greg Diamond embarks on his first trio project accompanied by his longtime cohorts, Edward Pérez and Ludwig Afonso.
Guitarist and composer Greg Diamond has emerged in recent years as an innovator with a distinct brand of Latin-infused contemporary jazz. “Beata” has a unique angle, not only as a latin jazz guitar trio record, but as an infusion of Pan- Latin styles —most ostensibly from Colombia— interwoven with great finesse into the contemporary jazz idiom, with modal and diatonic harmonies and odd-meter forms. “Beata” is an affectionate nickname used for his mother “Beatriz” and as an album title it also emphasizes the call of all artists to find their own artistic voice by connecting with their roots and origins, musically and otherwise.
