In this JGT video lesson, Davy Mooney considers variations on the standard jazz blues chord changes, and specifically the songs “Blues for Alice,” by Charlie Parker, and “Dance of the Infidels,” by Bud Powell. He analyzes the differences between the two greats’ approaches and improvises several choruses on the songs.
