New Release: “David & the HeartStrings” With Guitarist Greg Chako
“David & the HeartStrings” is the brainchild of jazz guitarist Greg Chako and vocal & harmonica blues specialist and songwriter David S. Burk.
Upright string-bassist David “D’Lloyd” Lloyd joins Greg as Mr. Burks’ “HeartStrings” core backing duo; and when their drummer, Michael Meloy joins the unit, the group is a complete quartet with their “HeartBeat” present.
This group flows effortlessly among soulful blues, wistful love songs and hard-swinging jazz. Their repertoire features often neglected but classic gems of our Great American Songbook: ‘swingers’ like “This Time the Dream’s On Me” & “On the Street Where You Live;” beautiful ballads like “The Night We Called It a Day” & “It’s Easy to Remember;” Blues-n-soul hits like Ray Charles’ “You Don’t Know Me” and Joe Williams’ “Who She Do;” and rockin’ blues like “Comin’ Home Baby” and “Blues After Hours.”
