Jazz guitarist Vince Lewis continues his JGT Arrangement Series with the classic, “New York, New York”.
“Theme from New York, New York” was the theme song for the 1977 film of the same name and composed by John Kander, with lyrics by Fred Ebb. Liza Minnelli performs it at the climax of the film. It was nominated for Best Original Song in the Golden Globe Awards. Two Years after that Frank Sinatra recorded the song, and it became closely identified both with him and New York City.
This arrangement is another Solo Chord Melody that should be fun for the mid-level player and is truly one of my favorites and a definite crowd pleaser which is totally cross-generational.
