Exclusive Video Podcast: JGT’s Bob Bakert talks to Jeanne Pisano, Beth Marlis, and John Storie about John Pisano – and take a look at some very special guitars.

We at JGT are so honored to be asked to conduct and present this interview about John Pisano.  His influence, his legacy, his huge contribution to the jazz guitar community in Los Angeles, which can not be overstated.  Feature in this interview is a few of John’s iconic guitars.  A Gibson Custom ES175 that was Joe Pass’s last guitar, John’s father’s 1939 Epiphone Deluxe and Al Viola’s (mandolin on The Godfather) Eastman Custom 910 signed by many guitar luminaries who attended the Al Viola tribute edition of “Guitar Night” held at Spazio’s. The Archtop Foundation has made it possible for these and other instruments to be made available to artists if the right qualifications are met to be on long term loans, more of that later.

Please enjoy this unique JGT exclusive and don’t forget to “like, share and follow”…

ABOUT THE ARCHTOP FOUNDATION

The major initiative done by the Archtop Foundation is the lending of vintage guitars to worthy artists. This is coordinated annually via its annual “Brooklyn Guitar Feast”, where many of New York’s best working guitarists meet for lunch to try out the Archtop Foundation’s collection of guitars, and rank their favorites. Armed with those rankings, an unbiased algorithm then allocates the guitar loans to best match the guitarists with the guitars. The guitars are predominantly archtop guitars from the great makers–D’Aquistos, D’Angelicos, Monteleones, Manzers, Ken Parkers, etc., but also include non archtops, like old Martins and Fender Telecasters.

The guitars are returned after a year, and the process goes again: and this year’s Guitar Feast will include archtops featured in this show–Joe Pass’s custom Gibson and John Pisano’s Epiphone Deluxe.
