Founded in 1987, University of North Florida School of Music (UNF) is the musical home of 300 music majors, 23 full-time faculty and 30 part time faculty. The jazz studies program has a 30-year legacy with former students performing in the Jazz at Lincoln Center, elite Washington DC military ensembles, as well as freelancing top-level artists in metropolitan areas throughout the United States. UNF graduates have won numerous Downbeat Magazine awards and have participated in Grammy award winning projects. Educational Philosophy:

Provide training from excellent faculty, high-level performance opportunities, exposure to first rate guest artists, and interaction with music technology in order to provide relevant musical skills that will allow graduates to succeed in the 21st-century music industry.

UNF Points of Pride:

UNF hosts some faculty who not only teach, but are active performers playing with some of the highest caliber musicians in the jazz field. The level of students is very strong allowing for a competitive but friendly environment, ripe for learning.

Jazz Guitar Studies:

Barry Greene has been the ‘head of guitar’ and professor of Jazz Studies at the University of North Florida School of Music since 1995. Barry has performed all over the United States and Europe with some of the finest musicians in the world.

He has endorsements with Benedetto Guitars, Benedetto Amplifiers and Thomastik-Infeld Strings. Barry has authored several books through Mel Bay Publishing and has written three interactive iBooks. VIEW ALL EDUCATORS

  • Danny Gottlieb: Drums – 0ver 400 recordings
  • Lynne Arriale: Piano – performances all over the world including Randy Brecker, Larry Coryell
  • Dennis Marks: Bass – played with Arturo Sandoval for many years
  • Todd Delgiudice: Brilliant saxophonist and composer
