Dave Stryker Happy Holiday Wishes!
Dave Stryker shares a special holiday video lesson and more…
Dave Stryker: Happy Holiday season to my fellow jazz guitar friends! Since I last checked in here at Jazz Guitar Today I’ve been keeping busy touring, recording and teaching.
Besides my online teaching course at ArtistWorks, I teach at Indiana University, Montclair State University and have been teaching this semester at Rutgers University.
I recently had a tour in Louisiana and was a guest with Steve Masakowski’s Guitar Ensemble at the University of New Orleans. It was great to play a duet with Steve, ( who is a killer player) and then my quartet played. I played the next night with my group at Snug Harbor.
Last weekend the great Vic Juris and I played a duet on steel-string acoustic guitars to open up the Celebration for Harold Mabern at SOPAC in South Orange, NJ.
My record Eight Track III hit #1 for 6 weeks on JazzWeek Radio chart last summer, so to celebrate I took my band into the studio to record Eight Track Christmas! (Haha) I’ve included a lesson on playing my arrangement of “Christmas Time Is Here” (Vince Guaraldi) for solo guitar from my previous Christmas solo guitar CD “Six String Santa”.
