Keeping up with…Davy Mooney

Jazz Guitar Today catches up with Jazz Guitarist and Educator, Davy Mooney – and he is keeping very busy.

On January 27 I recorded a live album for Sunnyside Records at the performance space National Sawdust in Brooklyn, with Brian Blade, Jon Cowherd, John Ellis, and Matt Clohesy. We’re in the process of mixing and mastering, and the current release date is August 14, 2020. 

Beyond that, my Mel Bay book “Personalizing Jazz Vocabulary” is out in the world, and I continue to teach advanced jazz improv at University of North Texas, along with running the jazz guitar studio of 40 students. And not to mention raising two sons, Andrés and Milton, who are 5 and 3 now…
