In this 3rd installment of Ted Ludwig’s Lick of the week, Ted Ludwig features a line over a ii-V-I in the key of G Major.
This line fits over a ii-V-I in the key of G Major. An easy and great sounding application over the V7 chord is to play the Subdominant Minor Approach or (iv-7). This tool for playing over a V7 has been used effectively for many decades. Also, I touched upon the Eb melodic minor scale as a way to create a strong pull to the resolution. This line has a classic bebop sound with some interesting intervalic patterns. Enjoy!!
