In this installment of Ted Ludwig’s Jazz ‘Lick of the Week’, Ted provides tips for nice interval choices, as well as creates interesting tension on the V chord.
This week’s line fits over a Major ii V I in the key of C. We use the triad pair concept over the D-7 chord in which the G Maj and F Maj triads are played. The V7alt chord is outlined using a common cell of notes within the Jazz Melodic Minor scale. This gives us nice interval choices and creates interesting tension on the V chord.
Good luck and thanks for dropping by!
