In this installment of Ted Ludwig’s Jazz ‘Lick of the Week’, Ted explores a great line over John Coltrane’s classic “Giant Steps”.
Episode 19 explores a great line over John Coltrane’s classic “Giant Steps”. This line is constructed by using the symmetrical structures that can be extracted from this set of changes. There are many ways in which we can look at this tune so I will dedicate the next few episodes to explore a few of them. We can use the half step shift concept over the first 2 measures. This helps to get easy transitions between the BMaj7 to D9 and GMaj to Bb9 chords.
Good luck and thanks for dropping by. Enjoy!!!
