Jazz guitarist Vince Lewis continues his JGT Arrangement Series with Duke Ellington’s “Do Nothin’ Till You Hear From Me”.
“Do Nothin’ Till You Hear From Me” was originally an instrumental written by Duke Ellington as a feature for lead trumpeter Cootie Williams. Lyrics were added later by Bob Russell. In 1944 Ellington’s recording actually was a number 1 hit on the R&B chart for 8 weeks and number 6 on the Pop Chart.
This is another midlevel chord melody arrangement without too many quick moves and should be pretty easily enjoyed by most intermediate players.
