In this JGT video, Davy Mooney re-considers Herbie Hancock’s “Tell Me a Bedtime Story,” from “Fat Albert Rotunda.” The tune is a fascinating mixture of bluesy melody, sophisticated, sometimes dissonant harmony, and mixed meter.

After a year of playing the song, and a semester of teaching it, Mooney felt he could do it more justice. However, it remains a challenge!
