Jazz guitarist Vince Lewis continues his JGT Arrangement Series with a Mercer/Mancini classic, “The Days of Wine and Roses”.

Written in 1963 for the Movie of the same name with Lyrics by Johnny Mercer and music by Henry Mancini this beautiful song won Grammy Awards for Best Original Song, Song of the Year and Record of the Year as recorded by Andy Williams.  It was included on Billboard Charts in the Adult Contemporary, Hot 100 and Easy Listening categories as well.

The haunting melody and beautiful harmonies perfectly match the lyrics telling the story of the movie in an unforgettable fashion.  The song has become a staple of practically every Jazz Vocalist and Musician ever since it was released.  It is constructed around just two main melodic phrases which form the basis for both stanzas and is a truly timeless chestnut of the Great American Songbook.
