Jazz Guitar Today pays tribute to Pat Martino

Bob Bakert, Editor of Jazz Guitar Today:  Pat Martino is a legend whose vision and philosophical outlook transcends music right down to the essence of energy and life.  When I first heard Pat’s music from the early days as a very young man I said to myself, “who is this guy?”, “who thinks like that?”, “and I want to hear more…”.  This was more than about his prodigious chops, it was the mesmerizing, hypnotic command of his instrument and his ability to express his thoughts that floored me.  I subsequently read every interview and poured through all the lesson material he published both in print and video.  To me Pat is the Gold Standard, the Benchmark on what a musical artist should be.  We at JGT and myself personally are so incredibly proud to have been chosen by Pat’s long time manager Joe Donofrio to honor the American Jazz treasure Pat Martino…!!!  Please enjoy!
